Registration is open for a two-day PANPA Future Forum (yes, PANPA) - themed 'innovate and inspire' - on August 26-27.

Like last year's one-day event, entry is free to members but limited.

Sponsored by Norske Skog, the conference promises an update on global and local trends, best-practice case studies, and practical ideas to take away.

Speakers for the first day include News Limited chairman and chief executive John Hartigan, INMA chief executive Earl Wilkinson, Kim Williams (Foxtel chief executive), Czech digital publishing expert Jan Rezab and international futurist Ross Dawson.

Workshops follow on the second day with a full print and technical stream, and sessions on defamation for journalists, advertising sales techniques and the use of research to sell advertising.

Venue is the Sydney Masonic Centre (as last year) with the Newspaper of the Year dinner (August 26) moving to Doltone House on Jones Bay Wharf, just around the corner from Fairfax Media's head office.

Sponsored by Goss International, the dinner includes entertainment by a leading band.
