Indian press maker TPH has started delivery of an 23-tower order which will add capacity for a number of Dainik Bhaskar sites in the country. And local publisher MBD is to add five single-width TPH lines to the ten it already has.

The new five-tower 36,000 cph Orient X-Cel is to be installed at Rohtak, while a further 18 towers will be added to a variety of DB Corp sites. A 2:2 folder with upper former and five dummy units with pneumatically controlled disc brakes complete the Rohtak installation.

The flagship ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ is India’s second most widely read daily with 33.7 million readers. The group also produces ‘Divya Bhaskar’ and ‘DNA’ (Daily News and Analysis) which it prints in collaboration with the Zee Group.

TPH says DB has been a customer for more than 20 years, and has more than 100 four-colour towers, most of the Orient Super design.

The add-on towers are going to Udaipur (two towers), Kota (two towers), Bhatinda (three towers), Jamshedpur (six towers), plus one each to be added to existing Orient presses at Bhuj, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Panipat.

All are 30,000 cph Orient Super towers, except for Kota which will have the faster Orient X-Cel tower.

Phased deliveries have already begun and are scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2011.

At MBD Group, five identical Orient Super presses rated at 30,000 cph are to be installed as part of a major expansion plan. Two 578 mm cut-off presses go to Sahibabad, while Karnal, Jalandhar and Gagret get one 508 mm cut-off press each. The configuration provides for 2/2 colour on one web and includes a quarterfolder.

Established more than 40 years ago, MBD Group is one of India’s largest publishing houses with an annual turnover of Rs 200 crores (approx US$45 million). TPH has supplied MBD with more than ten presses comprising Orient Super four-high towers over two decades.
