Developer of the Press Register software solution New ProImage says it has been installed at a number of Asian sites since being launched at IfraExpo (and promoted in GXpress) last year.

The software provides a digital solution to fan-out problems and can help users of older presses produce ‘new press’ quality.

Customers include the Sin Chew Media Corporation, Malaysian publisher of Chinese language newspapers ‘Guang Ming Daily’ and ‘Sin Chew’.

The publisher’s enior ICT manager, system/infrastructure Ng Junn Mun says

set-up time has been saved, and consistent press registration had led to improved overall print quality, reduced chemistry usage and paper wastage.

“In addition, the improved colour reproduction brings greater value to our advertiser customers,” he says.

Sin Chew Media uses the system integrated within its ProImage NewsWay production workflow, which takes content from an AsiaWeb editorial system and automates workflow to three Kodak NewsGen thermal platesetters. Printing is on 12-year-old Goss Universal 50 and Urbanite presses.

Other installations are at commercial printer KHL Printing in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Thai daily newspaper publisher Matichon, and the ‘Philippine Star’ in Manila.

Two Indian publishers – The Hindu Group Publications and Vasan Publications, both in Chennai – have also taken up the system

The software addresses causes of poor colour registration including mechanical misalignment, cylinder cocking, circumference inaccuracies and plate gripping placement, and resolves the fan-out problems.
