The promised online store for manroland parts in Australia and New Zealand is up and running, delivering wear parts from a Sydney warehouse. The company says web press users can order online to get low prices and fast deliveries, with individualised price lists, convenient ordering procedure part of the deal. The system replicates that for manroland users in Europe, and supports a customer base which includes Fairfax Media, PMP Print, Hannanprint, and News Limited. manroland sats a continuing dialogue with customers will determine the range of items available from the store, while there are no purchasing obligations in the sense of a minimum order contract. Lower prices are promised partly as a result of reduced costs for processing orders which were previously placed by telephone or in writing. manroland identifies items a customer needs and then assesses expected consumption to stock a range of items at fixed prices that the customer can view at any time and from which an authorised buyer can select items needed. Part numbers make items easy to find and identify with the aid of pictures or additional information, and the system allows searches for assemblies or press components. If repeat orders are placed for the same items, templates can be created. • Pictured: manroland Australasia's Graham Wickham with the new system
