Axel Springer is extending its inkjet imprinting test with the installation of three more Kodak systems on manroland Colorman presses.

Installation of the three S30 units in Spandau (Berlin) by the end of the year under manroland Web Systems’ ‘integrated inkjet’ programme, expands on the pilot which began in Ahrensburg, Hamburg.

The imprinting equipment delivers attractive options for readers and advertising customers. Variable data such as text or lottery numbers can added during coldset production, and Springer has used the technology for a ‘Cash Million’ lottery campaign.

Says Ahrensburg plant manager Thomas Drensek, “Our kickoff with applications in ‘Welt Kompakt’ and the Hamburg regional edition of ‘Bild’ was a complete success. This is why we want to keep pursuing the topic of inkjet imprinting”.

The S30 upgrade in Ahrensburg and Spandau has manroland taking charge of consulting, installation and start-up.
