manroland web will emphasise ‘incremental’ change for plant managers at Print 13 in September, as an alternative to reinstallation of entire press systems.

Among topics to be discussed at the Chicago show (September 8-12) under the ‘Securing the future’ theme is the maker’s take on three-around conversion from broadsheet-to-tabloid flexibility. The retrofit – in which three cutoffs are printed in a single cylinder revolution – can be used to create an entirely new business model.

“Our focus is to pinpoint areas that can be proactively managed to achieve the maximum production potential,” says North America chief executive Greg Blue. “We look at making incremental changes over time, rather than removing and reinstalling entire systems… taking a holistic approach.”

Options being promoted include flexible production through innovative and ground-breaking technology configurations, the ‘three-around solution” and industrial-scale finishing for inkjet digital printing.

manroland has FoldLine (for newspaper) and FormerLine (for book production) finishing systems for inkjet webs, which are based on well-known web offset modules.

Both offer variable sheet separation, dynamic change of pagination and cutoff and JDF/JMF controls for three-minute setup times.
