Adobe has started the talk-up for its app-focussed Adobe Publish product, due to be released mid-year.
Head of digital publishing Nick Bogarty says it will "build on" the company's Digital Publishing Suite, and initially at least, buyers of one will have access to the other.
The next-generation product - designed to allow customers to make apps for phones and tablets "without requiring development" - comes five years after the cooperation with Conde Nast which brought Wired to the iPad and evolved into Adobe DPS. "The goal then was to produce a beautiful interactive digital publication to a new and magical device, and we were successful with our partners in achieving that goal," he says.
"What we have all learned is that app users want a beautiful and immersive experience, but they also want content delivered regularly and continuously in a way that feels crafted and designed for mobile devices."
Bogarty says there are three main tenets to Publish: Apps on all major mobile platforms requiring development skills; the ability to create, organise and deliver content flexibly, and in a simple and cost-effective way; and enterprise-grade administration tools.
The product was introduced by Mitch Green in a presentation at the Digital Innovators Summit in Berlin last month.
