Swedish newspaper systems developer Roxen Internet Software – which has customers in Australia including AAP Pagemasters and Adelaide’s ‘Independent Weekly’ – has opened an office in Chicago to support its growing US user base. Although active in the country for several years, Roxen only signed its first newspaper customer, Shaw Newspapers, a year ago. Shaw has implemented more than 40 newspapers and 20 news websites on the web-based Roxen Editorial Portal in less than ten months, so that today all of its printed newspapers and other publications as well as its news websites run on the Roxen platform. “Opening an office is a natural step in a long term plan for increased sales activities and stronger support to our customers” says Roxen chief executive Staffan Ekholm. “Although the US economy is still tough we see an increased demand for Roxen’s products and good business potential in the country.” Roxen offers a web-based multi-channel platform for media companies, with the Editorial Portal enabling a transition from a newspaper mindset to an information perspective. Customers include Bonnier Magazine Group, RTL Nederland, Coca Cola Company, and de Telegraaf Tijdschriften Group.
