App scans content for regulatory compliance

An application which scans content for privacy, accessibility and site quality issues prior to publishing has been launched by web software company Sitecore.

Developed with HiSoftware, the Compliance Sheriff it works as part of Sitecore’s customer engagement platform, reporting on violations to ensure compliance with regulatory and other internal policies.

Publishers reduce the risk of litigation and penalties, and ensure digital content is in line with privacy guidelines. HiSoftware president and chief executive Kurt Mueffelmann says the increase of information and transactions on websites and intranets has helped to streamline processes and achieve economies of scale.

But he says maintaining compliance of online content is a perpetual risk that escalates as organisations empower more people to post content at a faster rate. “With so much information being made available on online, the business risk associated with poor compliance is high, and growing.”

The app allows organisations to scan content on demand within Sitecore to ensure compliance with more than 75 pre-defined checkpoints, including checkpoint groups for WCAG 2.0, and select privacy and site quality checks. Results on the compliance status of the content tested are displayed, flagging warnings, and helping pinpoint specific issues.
