Automation benefits in Roxen portal upgrade

A new version of Roxen’s web-based editorial portal delivers functionality, user interface, compatibility, integration and performance improvements.

The upgrade was announced on the opening day of Key Executives Mega Conference in New Orleans, and will be available next month.

One change is to allow story jumps across separate InDesign layout files, with the portal collecting overset story elements for page editors to place. Subsequent text changes made in the web editor will reflow automatically.

The search panel has also been updated, with more keyboard shortcuts and a cleaner and consistent information display across different modes in the product's web-native interface. Preflight warnings tell of missing links and fonts and overset text, with other warnings concerning the page layout instantly visible in the web interface. InDesign CS 6 server and client versions are fully supported.

Other improvements cover areas such as Word import – recognising Office Open XML – and output, as well as new workflow for sharing stories.

A feature enables a high degree of automation for publishing stories in many editions. For example, a metro city publisher can share stories while having different sets of email addresses, web links and other text elements inserted in each edition.
