Pongrass has added WordPress-based web publishing to its integrated database, bringing online facilities to editorial and advertising products.
The new Pongrass CMS extends Version 6 of its editorial, ad booking, ad production and media management elements while retaining the unified database which has been a key to the version’s success.
Managing director Les Pongrass says the use of popular blogging platform WordPress – emerging as a news publishing standard – fits with his company’s commitment to standards: “A tangible advantage is that WordPress allows the website to be remotely hosted as it uses the industry-standard LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) platform,” he says.
A newly developed Pongrass WordPress Connector actively synchronises the newspaper database to WordPress. Setup is fast, and with WordPress themes and Widgets, a new site can be up and running in days.
Pongrass says search engine visibility is vital: “Canonical story URLs, automatic keyword generation, optimised page structure and Google XML updates ensure high ranking with search engine crawlers,” he says. “Increased visibility and high search engine ranking are a tangible benefit to advertisers.”
The CMS supports publishing to a variety of channels including web, smartphones and tablets, as well as printed media.
