Advertising, CRM and circulation software developer Brainworks has added ad tracking and management to its portfolio with the acquisition of Morcor Solutions.

Morcor, based in Napanee, Ontario, and Brainworks have a long standing relationship, working together on codevelopment projects as well as joint sales and marketing.

The acquisition means resources and talents in both companies can go into innovative products and services. Morcor’s flagship XpanceX is an automated workflow system designed to manage, track, report, and archive digital assets for newspapers and other publications.

Brainworks president and chief executive John Barry says he has always respected Morcor's dedication to developing “a phenomenal product” and providing exemplary customer support: “We're thrilled to continue their momentum and add their Xpance and XpanceNet products to our portfolio".

Barry will lead the new company with former Morcor president Kenn Morrison still “heavily involved”.

All existing Morcor development and support employees and Canadian offices are being retained. Brainworks will continue to maintain offices in Sayville, NY, Wichita, KS and Belleville, Ontario. The combined company will have more than 50 employees and a dozen senior developers.

"The scale and strength of our combined development team has turbocharged the pace of Xpance development, with major new product features being released,” Barry says.
