A rollout which will be one of the largest of EidosMedia’s Methode system in the world has begun with the Mt Druitt-St Mary’s Standard.
The western Sydney title was the first of more than 160 within News Limited in Australia to go live.
And like the deadline to catch the federal government’s diminishing baby grant, it took just nine months to achieve.
All of News’ newspaper and magazines will switch to the multiple-channel publishing platform over coming weeks. The move is also accompanied by substantial geographical reorganisation of News’ activities which will bring all group titles onto a common Sydney-based platform, replacing the multiple systems and solutions previously used.
Mèthode’s multiple-channel capabilities will allow all publication channels – print, online, tablet and mobile – to be driven by a common workflow, and will facilitate content sharing between different publications.
Australian general manager Lodovico de Briganti says an important role in planning and coordinating news flows in multimedia newsrooms will be played by Méthode’s topic-based news planning workspace. All of the group’s titles will use news planning to manage and track news production from initial ideas to final publication.
“This is just the beginning of what will be one of the world’s largest integrated news publishing operations,” says de Briganti.
“In spite of the scale and complexity of the project, we are making very good progress thanks to the excellent teamwork between EidosMedia and News Limited staff.”
The implementation at the Sydney headquarters is managed by EidosMedia’s local office supported by an international team drawn from the EidosMedia organisation worldwide.
Rollout will continue over coming weeks, with the community papers first to go live, followed by the large metro dailies and national titles.
