A new version of EidosMedia’s app for mobile journalists and editors adds flexibility in newsroom interaction.

Remote workers can use the Méthode Mémo app for iPhone and iPad as a mobile workstation, write and uploading articles, as well as creating photo and video galleries. It also provides access to newsroom workflow including as wire services, production flows and editorial archives.

A new release makes the app more robust and flexible. Uploading can take place in background while content creation continues, and users can choose the size of photos to be uploaded. Additionally a status window shows file size and transmission time.

The app will work offline, allowing users to write and edit stories, create and attach pictures and media ready for uploading when a connection becomes available.

Many of the enhancements are the result of user experience and feedback since Mémo was released last year. Marketing vice president Massimo Barsotti says the app has been enthusiastically received during the pilot phase: “The power and simplicity of the iPhone and iPad make them ideal platforms for mobile working and the coordination of distributed editorial teams.”
