South Korean media group Hankyoreh Media will use CCI’s NewsGate technology for multi-channel publication of its Hangul (Korean-language) content.
The in stallation will be the first of a non-roman language solution. Both user interface and content will be in Hangul, the native alphabet of the Korean language.
Hankyoreh president and chief executive Yang Sang-woo says the implementation is in line with the media group’s overall strategies: "Hankyoreh Media Group wants to lead the shift into the digital era by embracing new technologies allowing us to reach more people on different channels,” he says.
“The core of this turn is an integrated newsroom where all The Hankyoreh’s products benefit each other, offering the best experiences for our audiences. The future depends on what we do in the present, and we know that in our future, numerous opportunities lie.
“We believe that CCI will be the best partner for this shift," he says.
A main driver in the choice was the ‘online first’ editorial strategy of The Hankyoreh, HMG’s main product, with content produced out of an integrated newsroom.
The system treats each story intended for a specific media as a building block to be extended across both print and digital products such as online, mobile, tablet, and smart TV.
CCI chief executive Dan Korsgaard says the agreement with one of South Korea’s leading media groups is “a major milestone” for CCI in Asia: “The opportunity to partner with HMG is indeed a privilege,” he says.
He says he is confident Newsgate will be the right choice for an organization “known to be an innovator in the region”.
“With HMG, we have the best partner to expand our presence in the region."
