WoodWing has its new multichannel-focussed version of Enterprise and the Content Station CMS ready for IfraExpo in Berlin.
The new version 9 is based on user experience and usability testing, and reflects latest industry trends, the company says.
Having separated content creation from publishing with the version 6 overhaul in 2007 – enabling an iPad solution to be released on the same day as the Apple tablet – the company has been looking at the ways in which users have exploited the growing multiplatform capability.
A new user interface for Content Station 9 complements a number of changes “under the hood”, simplifying the processes for publishing to a digital channel. Channel-specific views include all content and metadata for that channel, which can then be shared or duplicated at component level. Separate workflows per channel within a dossier are now possible and fully transparent, and WoodWing says integration with channel-specific systems such as WebCMS and social media is much tighter.
President Erik Schut says the new release makes the reason for introducing Content Station clear. “With its tremendous embracing in the past three years, there has been lots of useful feedback and the energy to make the next leap forward,” he says. “With the new version, we bring multi-channel efficiency to a completely new level and enable publishers to integrate all their publishing activities in a single organic and transparent editorial workflow, giving online and social media the same footing as print and digital publishing.”
Schut says integration of digital channels into the the general publishing process also makes it easier for publishers to tap into the increasing revenue opportunities on the web and other channels. Future versions of Enterprise will continue to support publication and promotion of content across channels.
