Days after scoring a second 96-page Sunday 5000 press order, Goss has commissioned its ‘world’s first’ installation at Grafiche Mazzucchelli in Seriate, near Milan in Italy. The press design has a 2860 mm wide web, allowing 96 A4 magazine pages to be produced per cylinder revolution at up to 40,000 impressions per hour. Comprising four units with Goss DigiRail digital inking, the Mazzucchelli press is also equipped with a Goss Contiweb FD paster, an Ecocool dryer with integrated chill rolls and the Goss Autoplate fully automatic plate changing system. The second order comes from Spanish commercial and publication printer Altair – part of Impresia Iberica and a member of the European Circle Printers group – and is scheduled for shipment to a facility south of Madrid at the end of this year. This is also a four unit press with a 2860 mm web width. Goss says its gapless blanket technology frees the press from the vibrations and print disturbances associated with blanket gaps. This allows premium print quality with the wider cylinder configuration at speeds up to 44,500 cylinder revolutions per hour.
