KBA will sell its Flexotecnica packaging presses in Australia and New Zealand following an agreement signed at DRUPA.
The German press manufacturing group acquired the Italian maker of common impression (CI) flexo presses for flexible packaging in 2013.
Now subsidiary KBA Australasia has signed a sales and service agreement which will see it take on the flexo range in Australia and New Zealand.
General manager of KBA Australasia Dave Lewis says services for existing flexo customers will be secured: "We will be able to strengthen our position in this growth market considerably."
Peter Stewart joins the company as sales manager for the cutting-edge presses. "With his longstanding experience and his contacts in the flexible packaging market, he will help us reach our ambitious targets," managing director of KBA Flexotecnica Claudio Bisogni says.
The Italian subsidiary is based in Tavazzano, near Milan, and develops and produces modern CI flexo web presses for printing on paper, film and other flexible packaging materials. With a global annual growth rate of 4-5 per cent, flexible packaging produced predominantly with flexo and gravure is the highest growing packaging segment. At DRUPA, KBA-Flexotecnica demonstrated print quality and sustainability with water-based inks with its new NEO XD LR CI web, a hybrid press engineered for handling water-based and solvent-based inks as well as radiation-curing UV-LED and EB ink systems.
