Intensive use of QI Press Controls' IQM reporting system is part of the plan for new user Lidergraf in Portugal.
The Dutch developer's mRC-3D, IDS-3D and IQM systems have been installed on a seven-year-old Heidelberg M-600 heatset press. Technical director Andrea Carneiro says the aim is to optimise performance "yet further" to get the best out of the press and meet current quality standards.
Lidergraf had been working with QIPC agent Tecnimprensa on solutions for the plant in Vila do Conde, close to Porto, and went on a fact-finding mission to the Netherlands.
"Our goal was to reduce paper waste significantly on start-up and during production," says Carneiro. "We also wanted to quantify levels of quality and improve and stabilise these."
Two mRC-3D cameras for colour register, five mRC-3D cameras for cut-off control and two IDS-3D cameras for colour control have been installed, maximising cost savings while also bringing about quality improvements.
As the new partnership begins, Andrea Carneiro says QIPC's support is extremely important for the IQM press analysis system in particular. "We are expecting to make intensive use of the software so that we can optimise performance yet further. Hopefully we will be able to learn a lot from each other."
