A nine-year programme to replace a Solna D300 with a state-of-the-art Tensor pressline has been completed with the installation of automated density control and two four-high towers.

The project at La Societe Cherbourgeoise d'Editions in Cherbourg, France, began in 2009, with a second phase following four years later.

The outcome is a highly automated shaftless eight-tower T400 press with an H50 folder, spray dampening and remote ink control including ink presetting and closed loop register control.

Control and quality systems has come from partner DCOS, with a density control system for all eight towers added as part of the final phase. Tensor chief operating officer Mike Pavone says the partnership with DCOS had been a great advantage: "Their state of the art controls and quality systems are the perfect complement to our US-made equipment, where quality and durability has always been the signature."
