Scandinavian technology and software is now complementing that of Washington Post's Arc Publishing at Costa Rican media company Grupo Nación.

Roxen chief executive Per Östlund reports that not only was his company called in to integrate print production, but two other Scandinavian companies made a contribution.

Grupo Nación - which publishes La Nación, El Financiero and La Teja - is using Arc for editorial production and online publishing, but needed the addition of functionality for print.

Executive director Pedro Abreu says the search for a print module to match capabilities of their new system led them to Swedish developer Roxen, which offered a "perfect match" both in terms of product functionality and efficient integration with solutions from other vendors".

Grupo Nación is also automating their image processing with ColorFactory from Norwegian developer Fotoware, and has commissioned Norwegian workflow specialists TikkTakk to design a new templated editorial workflow.

"By now also incorporating a print solution and improved image handling in our ARC solution, we will achieve the most efficient production environment possible for our journalists and editors - continuous development much needed to stay ahead in today's rapidly evolving media environment and to ensure that we are well positioned to continue serving our customers with quality content while growing our business profitably," says Abreu.
