Audits and case studies on WPF agenda for 2019

Koenig & Bauer web product manager Herbert Kaiser has been elected chairman of WAN-Ifra's World Printers Forum board.

With Max Garrido, managing director of the Spanish newspaper printing company Corporacion Bermont (pictured), as vice chairman, the senior manager on the press maker's product and project management (Koenig & Bauer Digital & Webfed) was elected when the WPF board met in Sarajevo on March 25-26.

Members were the guests of Mujo Selimović, publisher of Bosnian newspaper Oslobodjenje.

Michael Hirthammer (Sun Chemical), Jan Kasten (former ppi Media), Josef Konrad Schiessl (Süddeutscher Verlag Zeitungsdruck), and Peder Schumacher (V-TAB) all retired after their second term of office.

The board now consists of six representatives from publishers and printers and six representatives from supplier companies: Herbert Kaiser, Max Garrido, Anu Ahola (UPM), Andreas Gierth (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung), Sanat Hazra (The Times of India Group), Menno Jansen (QI Press Controls), Mujo Selimović, Thomas Isaksen (DDPFF), Sally Pirri (The Globe and Mail, Toronto), Rainer Kirschke (Agfa Graphics), Manuel Kosok (manroland Goss), and Gideon Martz (MakroSolutions).

Members discussed progress of current projects and set a working agenda to include a report on Print Innovation Awards winners; mechanical audits of printing presses; High-Value Print Production II (interviews and case studies); and Changing Print (turning points in technology since 1970) .

In 2019 WPF the second international Print Innovation Awards competition, a new round of the International Color Quality Club, a conference in New Delhi, India, in September and a conference in October in Berlin as part of the Berlin Publishing Days (formerly Ifra Expo).
