Front-end and colour controls on Goss Colorliner presses at Puerto Rican publisher GFR Media have been upgraded to include register and soft proofing.

Maker manroland Goss says the retrofit also included an upgrade of the closed loop inline register control system and press controls.

"As owners of El Nuevo Día, the largest and most important newspaper on the island, they have always been at the forefront of modernization," says manroland Goss group head of sales Heiko Ritscher. "Our solution of controls upgrades in GFR Media's Colorliner and Headliner presses helps to face several challenges for the future of the newspaper, including overcoming obsolescence issues, increasing flexibility and efficiency of production planning, increasing technical availability of the presses and providing automated pre-adjustment possibilities."

He says new controls paired with the company's InlineRegister control system are a every customer should consider.

Head of production Eng. Mariette Sanchez says the retrofit helps to reduce breakdown risks as well as operating costs. "The plant is preparing itself to become completely modernized and equipped with the latest technology."
