A dedicated pressline capable of producing 2500 pizza boxes a minute is at the heart of a high-tech project for manroland Goss in the New Year.
With Germany's appetite put at a billion frozen pizzas a year, a Varioman c:line press running at 400 metres/minute will be kept busy at what is planned as "the most modern packaging printing centre in Europe".
The project valued "in the seven-digit range" sees manroland Goss build "a technically advanced printing press of superlatives" next year. The five-unit web press will have an automatic winder with web storage and impact splicer, web cleaning, web edge guidance and special draw-in unit plus a flexo unit, EB curing and an inline rotary die cutter.
Format-variable printing units will use sleeve technology to achieve a pattern change in less than four minutes.
Installation at the Rosa project's site in Lower Saxony is expected by the end of next year.
