Moroccan newspaper and heatset printer Les Imprimeries du Matin is coping with COVID-aggravated changes in market conditions with an upgrade of two of its presses.

Having installed QI Press Controls' mRC-3D colour and cut-off register on its KBA Continent and Compacta 818 presses during 2016-17, it has returned to have closed loop colour control added to the heatset press.

Executive director Kamal el Alami says market changes were made even more significant with COVID-19 "affecting our daily life, habits and also our activity.

"The market has become harder, narrower and more demanding."

The new IDS-3D colour technology will be complemented by an investment in IQM management reporting, which will provide detailed reporting on maintenance and quality management.

The business is part of multimedia publisher Le Matin Group, with 26,000 m² print centre equipped for offset and digital print, and including the biggest heatset press in Africa and the country's first LED-UV sheetfed.
