Contiweb says it has installed a “landmark” one-hundredth Ecoset dryer.
These days the specialist manufacturer builds drying and web-handling equipment for packaging and digital printing, as well as web offset, but the Ecoset remains a cornerstone of its portfolio for web-offset and for commercial applications. The hot-air dryer covers the full range from 16-page up to 96-page (1020-2860mm) applications, with key functions of drying, afterburning and chilling integrated in a single unit.
The afterburner incinerates the solvents from the ink to minimise emissions and CO2 footprint while the gained thermal energy is effectively re-used in the heating process, reducing gas consumption up to 60 per cent, the company says. Optionally, electrical power consumption in production mode can be significantly reduced, again minimising emissions, CO2 footprint and costs.
The latest Ecoset has been shipped to a printer in the US.
Contiweb sales director Rob Bosman says issues such as the gas crisis and the scarcity and price increases in fossil fuels – plus subsidies offered by governments – make investment in a new dryer “even more attractive”.
