Old Friends who care about print home in on Penrith

A lunch meeting for the Australian Society of Old Friends is set to be a major get-together for those who care about traditional letterpress print.

Central to the meeting next Tuesday (June 20) is a tour of the Penrith Museum of Print, which boasts a fully-operarional letterpress print works including handset wood and lead type, Linotype (pictured) and Ludlow hot-metal linecasters, a replica 1700s Common Press, an 1841 Columbian, a 1864 Albion, Chandler and Price, Arab and Heidelberg platens, a Vertical Miehle and a Wharfedale, all of which will be running.

The tour – arranged with LIA NSW – will be followed by a lunch at Club Paceway, to be addressed by Andy McCourt.
