Just when you thought there wasn’t a picture anywhere, not owned by Getty Images… enter Are Media.
The magazine giant has taken on the ANZ market with the launch of Contentshop.com.au, an image library with hundreds of thousands of photos drawn from its extensive archives.
The library features new and historical prints and digital images from the pages of its mastheads including Australian Women’s Weekly, Australian Gourmet Traveller, Country Style, Belle, Australian House & Garden, Inside Out, Home Beautiful, and Better Homes & Gardens.
All are in high resolution with multiple licensing options, and can be used by marketers, creative directors, designers, PR agencies, social media managers, and other publishers, with new images added each month.
There is speculation the move may lead to increased competition in the licensed image market, which is dominated by international giant Getty and local player AAP Photos.
Are Media’s head of ePublishing and syndication Joe Revill said Are Media and its predecessors had published “incredible images for Australian audiences for almost 100 years, capturing the heart, soul, style, beauty and history of our nation.
“Now we are opening up our photographic library to creative people and industries, giving them the opportunity to tap into the vision of Australia’s best magazine editors and art directors with premium content – it is so much more than just stock imagery.
“The explosion of content access and consumption in recent years has seen a real need for creators to source original, quality images. Are Media’s incredible photographic library can now provide a unique service to help fulfil that need,” he said.
The library can be accessed by anyone in Australia and New Zealand.
