That old ‘1984’ Mac TVC set a benchmark for Apple that hasn’t failed to impress since. And the latest Chinese New Year ad for the iPhone 16 Pro is no exception.
The new work, directed by Michael Gracey, channels a ’90s mixtape for inspiration. It introduces Wei who, while travelling home for CNY, is transported to a dream world in which he falls in love with a complete stranger, “rekindling his faith in love when he wakes up”, after discovering an old cassette of his parents’.
The first Shot on iPhone CNY musical featuring classic hits from the period, it’s designed to inspire the possibilities of Apple’s latest technology in a celebration of the Year of the Snake.
