Ferag has added the ‘stitch’ component to the high-speed quarterfolding system it launched last year.

But journalists who travelled from various parts of the world to the annual press day in Hinwil, Switzerland (GXpress was not among them) were denied details of a new Navigator mailroom control, details of which will be given at IfraExpo in Hamburg next month.

Ferag launched the StreamFold quarterfold at the 2009 press event, and has now introduced a saddle stitching function.

“Newspaper printers should have even more freedom in and beyond newspaper production and be able to make more profitable use of their printing capacity,” says chief executive Jürg Möckli.

The addition continues Ferag’s modular approach of recent years. The mobile quarterfold and stitching component can be moved between different UTR delivery stations, connecting it inline to various folder deliveries. The line can also be fed in stand-alone mode, independent of the printing operation, using the Ferag’s JetFeeder hopper.

Other configurations can include winding products from the press and processing them into stitched quarterfold products via an unwinding station.
