A worldwide partnership between manroland and ABB will see key elements from the Swiss control systems developer’s offering rebadged and integrated with the German press maker’s own PECOM and printnet.
The deal, announced by manroland automation and product management vice president Guenther Glas in Jakarta yesterday, will be launched at the IfraExpo in Hamburg next month.
Central is the management and workflow tool manroland will offer as the printnet Cockpit, but the partnership also covers complementary Insert Manager and Delivery Planner modules.
In the Indonesian capital, where the third annual SEANG conference opened yesterday, ABB’s Steve Kirk explained that the arrangement is non-exclusive and will in effect add manroland to ABB’s existing sales channels.
That said, it is expected that integration into the leading maker’s newspaper press control systems will deliver ABB a substantial market boost.
