Philippines book printer Rex Printing is installing a new Goss Community SSC press this summer in Quezon City in metropolitan Manila. A four-high press configuration features a 578 mm cut-off, two automatic zero-speed splicers and an SSC folder with quarterfold capabilities. The new press will give the fast-growing company – now one of the largest commercial book printers in its region – the ability to produce eight pages in full colour when running one web, or 16 pages in spot color running two webs at up to 35,000 copies per hour. “Technology is the backbone of our growth ,” executive vice president Dominador D. Buhain says. “Over the years, we have invested in the best and most reliable printing equipment to print high-quality books and magazines that satisfy both domestic and international demands. “We have made every effort to respond to the rigid printing requirements of quality-conscious clients, while developing the arts and preserving our nation’s rich cultural heritage.” Rex Printing is a subsidiary of the Rex Group, established 50 years ago with affiliated publishing and bookselling businesses. Buhain says Rex has grown to become the most influential education print provider in the country: “We are a visionary and pioneering corporation helmed by a group of individuals who envision a local publishing industry thriving with Filipino pride and talent.”
