Swedish drive and control systems specialist DCOS has completed its first closed-loop colour register system on a heatset press. The installation is part of an upgrade at Aktietrykkeriet of a 16-year-old KBA Compacta C214 press, and replaces an existing GrafiKontrol system.

A key requirement was that the system must handle continuous register movement – so-called anti-embossing – to avoid ghosting, piling and embossing, which had been a problem. The DCOS DRCS colour-to-colour register and ribbon system controls two ribbons.

"We found Aktietrykkeriet a highly skilled printer who throughout the procurement process proved to be familiar with and knowledgeable in their expectations of the system,” says DCOS chief executive Mattias Anderson.

He says the company is keen to establish itself in the heatset market: “Cooperation with Aktietrykkeriet is an important step in that direction for us,” he says.

Aktietrykkeriet press manager Roger Olsen says the system is fast, stable, and helps achieve better quality. Washing intervals have also increased, reducing running waste.

established in 2004, DCOS supplies drive controls, control desks and closed loop systems as well as software for operator interfaces and production management.
