Swedish systems developer Roxen has started deploying its turnkey Editorial Appliance package in the USA, starting with privately-owned Colorado Community Media.

The company says the new solution delivers the benefits of its Editorial Portal without local installation, systems management or software configuration.

Colorado Community Media has moved its 19 publications – with circulation totalling 196,000 – to Appliance as part of a consolidation of several publications.

“We added 12 community newspapers through an acquisition earlier this year and by moving all our publications to the Roxen system we expect significant improvements in productivity as well as better overview and control,” says president Gerard Healey.

“We now have a production system to grow with and most importantly, our staff is now equipped with a state-of-the art publishing tool that streamlines text and image handling and eliminates the need for tedious manual work.”

Editorial Appliance is a customided tool for multi-channel publishing of news and other content tailored for small and mid-sized media companies – a lean version of Roxen’s Editorial Portal that also contains an OEM version of Adobe InDesign Server, a backup and recovery solution as well as remote management tools. A turnkey solution, it runs on an Apple MacMini server at the customer or at an external data centre.

Roxen chief executive Per Ostlund says new editorial systems can be deployed in a few days.
