German developer vjoon says its K4 publishing system is the first to support full integration with the new API of Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite.
The integration via the Adobe Folio Producer API is claimed to substantially improve efficiency in tablet publishing workflows.
Tablet publishers will be able to upload folio files after planning, managing and organising digital content in K4, allowing them to exploit the extensive feature set in Folio Producer and eliminating the need to use Adobe’s Content Bundler.
Adobe’s digital publishing senior director of product management Zeke Koch says the new interface will be a “tremendous asset” because it integrates publishing systems such as K4 with the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite “far more efficiently” than anything previously: “With recently released groundbreaking new features and automated functions, publishers now have access to one of the most innovative and efficient tablet publishing workflows on the market today.”
vjoon users including Condé Nast, Credit Suisse, National Geographic and Red Bull have been successfully using the Digital Publishing Suite worldwide. vjoon chief executive Andreas Schrader says the joint effort with Adobe has led to the development of further tools needed to optimise workflows. Because of this the interface has benefitted from experience gained with K4 customers’ tablet publications.
Functionality in Folio Producer including push notifications – which lets users determine when subscribers are alerted to a new edition – can now be used for integrated publications. Publishers can also pinpoint which content readers can share with friends and business partners.
