Implementation of the second phase of a switch to DTI’s Cloud will make the UK’s KM Group the company’s first European user of both its editorial and advertising ‘software as a service’ offering.
The Kent newspaper publisher is about to deploy DTI Advertising across its more than 25 print, radio, and online products, and will add DTI Circulation later this year.
ContentPublisher was deployed via DTI Cloud in the first phase.
Editorial director Ian Carter says it was important to have a fully integrated system operating across all departments, company-wide: “We already had years of experience with DTI, and that gave us the confidence to look to them for our future business needs.”
The Cloud architecture enables production of news and advertising content from a single environment, improving enterprise-wide collaboration and responsiveness.
KM operations director Duncan Gray says the group’s core publishing infrastructure has successfully migrated to DTI Cloud, and its existing advertising system was out-of-date: “It is a natural progression,” he says. “We want to capitalise on the benefits of having a single system across our entire enterprise that was always current and could handle our development as a true multimedia organisation.”
“Operating in the cloud gives us huge business benefits,” added Carter. “It allows reporters and subeditors to work remotely which is a very important development for us.”
DTI international managing director and vice president Paul Gillogaley says KM is the first European installation of the complete DTI solution suite in the Cloud. “They are a thinking, progressive company and they understand the future of newspapers is in cloud publishing,” he says. “They have developed a strong commitment to their audience, and this is a strategic move for them to create a better business environment to serve that. “They can also realign costs, and focus more on serving their core business rather than running and maintaining complicated and expensive systems.”
DTI has selected KM Group as one of the company's premier European customer sites, hosting visitors interested in DTI solutions via DTI Cloud.
