A cloud-based circulation system for US-based Digital First Media – which owns MediaNews Group, Journal Register Company and Digital First Ventures – will be the world’s largest.

Vendor Diigital Technology says its DTI Circulation product will support all the group’s publications and 800 users.

Publications reach 61.5 million Americans each month through more than 800 multi-platform products across 18 states.

The call for a hybrid system that could manage digital and print – from smaller publications to large metros – follows use of the DTI product at several MNG titles in California, New Mexico, and on the East Coast. The new agreement places all Digital First Media operations under an agreement that utilises an enterprise-wide cloud computing environment.

Chief technology officer Bob Mason says the cloud-based system will provide marketing and management features allowing them to scale and share real-time metrics across their network. “We will create dramatic operational efficiencies and be able to provide a higher level of customer service in all of our markets.”

In addition to managing distribution of products, DTI Circulation will centralise audience and subscriber information to help its customer discover new customer insights.

The system will handle complex digital and ‘combo-buy’ subscriptions, and deliver a PCI-compliant solution for credit card transactions.

MediaNews Group is the nation’s second largest newspaper company by circulation, publishing 57 daily newspapers and more than 100 non-daily publications in 11 states.

Journal Register Company publishes in ten states, with more than 350 multiplatform products reaching an audience of 21 million people a month.
