WoodWing’s Elvis digital asset management system has snared two out of Italy’s three sports dailies in quick succession.
Tuttosport has just gone with a production environment based on the firm’s Enterprise and Elvis DAM, six weeks after Corriere dello Sport made the same move.
Both were migrating from legacy systems to modernise and streamline their workflows ahead of major sports events.
The titles are historic media brands in Italy – Tuttosport has been published for 70 years and Corriere dello Sport for 90 years. Both have multiple local editions – four for Tuttosport, and as many as 12 for Corriere dello Sport, reaching respectively, 894,000 and 1.5 million readers each day. Local Corriere dello Sport editions are often completely individual issues, aimed at fans of a team in a specific region, requiring 60-80 pages to be created or reworked.
“Sports journalists work under very tight deadlines with the majority of pages produced in just three hours,” says Guido Ottaviani, technical director of IT partner Media Progetti.
Ottaviani had worked with WoodWing at magazine publisher Conti Editore, taking advantage of the opportunity to migrate existing workflow, integrate agency services and Binuscan image processing.
Editors can now create standard pages on their own within a browser-based version of Content Station. Finished pages are transferred to a D-Share content management system for publication to iOS and Android apps and online.
More than two million images managed for each title include decades of historical content.

Keynote speakers include ‘Mr. Magazine’ Samir Husni, Mashable chief technology officer Robyn Peterson, Meredith Corporatation duo Chandra Turner (executive editor of Parents magazine) and lead business technology project manager Stacie Franklin, together with Raul Carvalho das Neves and Rui Rosa from Portguese publisher Impresa.
There will also be customer stories from Hearst Magazines USA’s Travis Ah King and Ronald Leusink, commercial director of Graphit in Bavaria, as well as Yaffa Publishing Group (Australia) and Bonnier Media Group (Germany).
