Bangkok-based newspaper and magazine printer and publisher, Kilen Printing is into production with the country's first 16-page Goss M-600 commercial web press. It joins Goss Universal and Community newspaperlines at the site, and is being used to print leading sports and fashion magazine titles including 'FHM' and 'Stuff'. Sorraphan Sitthisuk, deputy managing director of Kilen Printing says the company – which has only used Goss web presses – found the M-600 "the perfect choice”. Installation began last April and the press is now producing around 500,000 signatures a day with very high quality print and the vibrancy of colour required for Kilen’s range of magazine titles. “In addition to matching the quality of our sheetfed presses, the M-600 press has saved us valuable printing time, allowing editors a greater production window for the preparation of the magazines,” Sitthisuk says. “Switching some of our current work onto the new press has also opened up the opportunity for us to gain additional work on our other presses.” In 2005 Kilen undertook a large expansion plan including a new printing plant to accommodate its growing range of presses. “Further to this investment, we hope to invest in new CTP and finishing equipment later on in 2009,” Sitthisuk says. Established in 1985 and part of SiamSport Group, Kilen Printing employs around 430 people at its site in Bangkok. SiamSport has business interests in all types of sports and entertainment media including daily newspapers, magazines, radio, TV and new media. Goss regional commercial press sales vice president Tim Mercy says the M-600 has been the world’s best selling 16-page commercial web press series: "We are glad that this product has again proven its outstanding print quality and investment value at Kilen Printing."
