Manila-based Philippine Daily Inquirer will use Outbrain's recommendation platform as part of a range of new solutions on its inquirer.net website.

What is a described as a strategic partnership that will see the publisher deploy the full-suite of Engage solutions to deliver relevant content to audiences.

The Philippines' most read daily claims more than 2.7 million readers nationwide, equating to a market share of more than 50 per cent in the country.

Inquirer will use Engage to manage their own content recommendations and drive increased audience engagement through insights and analytics.

Inquirer.net chief operating officer Gary Libby says content distribution has played a key role in digital strategy so far: "Now we believe that we've now found the right partner to help us raise the bar in content and user engagement.

"Outbrain's focus on audience engagement and data analytics was a key driver in our decision to launch this partnership, especially as digital content consumption is expected to skyrocket in the Philippines in 2016 and beyond."

He says the publisher aims not only to enhance user experience, but also maximise monetisation opportunities, "driven by a strategic and relevant, native experience, too".

Outbrain will also provide tools to marry editorial decision-making with predictive analytics and algorithmically-generated content recommendations.

Outbrain senior director, business development, Asia & India, Marc Irwin says Outbrain has evolved from its recommendation product roots into a guided personalisation platform that serves multiple publisher stakeholders. It now serves over 200 billion recommendations per month to consumers in over 150 countries.

It kicked off strategic partnerships in the Philippines in 2011, and claims to be working with majority of the key publishers in the country.
