A 64-page Lithoman heatset press is set to power Quad/Graphics' book production plant in Versailles, Kentucky.

The single-web manroland press - the second of this series at Versailles - is currently being installed, with production set for the third quarter of 2017. It has four units rated at a maximum production speed of 45,000 revs/hour, with features including a Contiweb Splicer and Ecoset/T dryer, and manroland's latest Pecom-X controls.

Press operations vice president Tim Sands says the investment decision was driven by the increased productivity and efficiency the technology would provide: "We are always looking to implement equipment that improves production cycle times and reduces waste - a key to remaining the industry's high-quality, low-cost producer.

"It's also a win for our clients who will benefit from quicker makereadies and optimal quality provided through the press's advanced inline control functions."
