A deal with Google gives voice to News news headlines for readers in Australia.
The company has announced that headlines from its national, metro and some regional titles will be read via Google Home, which is being bundled with a new 12-month digital subscription.
Chief digital officer Nicole Sheffield says voice activated technology is the future and the move a demonstration of News' commitment to staying ahead: "It is set to change the way we live, work and consume, and given Google Home was only launched earlier this year, we foresee this latest offer will appeal to Australians wanting to try the smart speaker technology for themselves.
"Bundling subscriptions with Google Home demonstrates our collective commitment to being at the forefront of the latest trends, innovations and intuitive technologies," she says.
Publishing chief operating officer Damian Eales says News is committed to ensuring content is readily accessible, "no matter how technology changes the way people consume news".
A digital, social and radio campaign starts today with the launch of the offer on The Australian. Metro and regional papers the Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, Courier-Mail, The Advertiser, Geelong Advertiser, NT News, The Mercury, Gold Coast Bulletin, Townsville Bulletin and Cairns Post follow on November 9.
