Twitter has completed its sale of mobile advertising platform MoPub to gaming and marketing software company AppLovin, announced in October.

At the time, Twitter said the US $1.05 billion cash deal was part of a plan to increase focus on development of its own products and replenish near term revenue losses, “with the goal of improving time to market to deliver on our previously stated goal of $7.5 billion or more in 2023”.

MoPub was acquired by Twitter in 2013 for US$350 million. According to TechCrunch, it contributed US$188 million in revenue in the previous year.

Twitter says MoPub provides flexible monetisation solutions for mobile publishers around the globe.

Twitter has expanded its Spaces platform with a paid version and also introduced a ‘Blue’ subscription to unlock additional features.

Meanwhile, MoPub says it is being integrated into AppLovin’s Max monetisation solution “to create a robust, unified platform”.
