Swedish publishing software provider Laidback Solutions has been acquired by Atex Media in a deal announced by its parent, Aquila.

Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Sweden, Laidback has focussed on developing flexible production software solutions, with its products now used in 20 different countries by media groups and corporate publishers.

Aquila chief executive Daniel Lee described Laidback as a leader in the Nordics within their category, and a natural fit with its existing product portfolio and customer base. “The acquisition is a step forward for Aquila as we continue to grow our position in the global media vertical,” he said.

Atex chief executive Federico Marturano said the products would complement its existing portfolio very well and solidify Atex as a one-stop shop for publishers, while his opposite number at Laidback, Pär Andersson said the deal would give Laidback the strength to evolve and grow its business. “We already have lots of common customers and our solutions are integrated so this will be a perfect match.”

Aquila – which is a subsidiary of Constellation Software – said “with a permanent-hold worldview to acquisitions”, it looked forward to being a forever home for Laidback’s employees, clients, and partners. It will operate under Atex’s existing advertising business.
