Indian financial news website livemint.com, and the news sites of the Times of India, The Hindu, and Hindustan Times are the world’s fastest-growing, according to new statistics.
Three of these grew by between a third and a half in the year, according to Press Gazette rankings based on Similarweb data. Only second-placed apnews.com (up 47 per cent to 92.3 million visits) came near.
Livemint was up 49 per cent to 69.9 million visits, while timesofindia.com (41 per cent), thehindu.com (up 33 per cent), with seventh-fastest-growing hindustantimes.com (up 17 per cent) still in the top ten, but behind apnews.com (up 47 per cent), abcnews.go.com (up 29 per cent) and usatoday.com (up 18 per cent).
The world’s most-visited news site was bbc.co.uk & bbc.com, with a billion visits, according to the figures, with timesofindia.com the highest placed Indian news site, eleventh with 209.9 million visits.
The Press Gazette rankings, based on Similarweb data, show a 20 per cent year-on-year slump in visits to Google News (371 million), with Microsoft’s MSN down 15 per cent to 639.7 million, and The Guardian down 14 per cent to 329.8 million.
