News Corp is exploring a TV-style offering for its metro news sites, starting with Telegraph TV in Sydney.
The Daily Telegraph is the second-largest of News’ metro mastheads after the Herald-Sun in Melbourne and ahead of the Courier Mail (Brisbane) and Advertiser (Adelaide). News also has capital-city mastheads in Hobart and Darwin.
Calum Jaspan of Nine-owned Sydney rival the Sydney Morning Herald has reported that the “beefed-up video offering” will add longer videos, piece-to-camera reports and direct-to-email video.
James Willis, executive producer of Ben Fordham’s 2GB breakfast show, has been recruited to lead the Telegraph TV project, he says, quoting sources within News Corp.
