ProImage has won a new convert to its cloud-based image-toning solution in Community Media’s (Ludington) Daily News.
The multimedia company provides local news and information through a wide range of print digital, and radio products throughout six US states.
At The Daily News in Michigan, the process of improving image quality is being automated with OnColor from the ECO3 company. The paper uploads approximately 250 images monthly through the cloud solution, which colour corrects CMYK images, adjusts image resolution, and converts colour images to black & white as needed.
Graphics manager Judy Lytle says the processed photos “tend to look better than manually toned ones” and there is a considerable saving in time, ranging from an hour or two per publication to several hours on large projects such as graduation sections.
The ability to resize lower resolution, smaller images to 300 dpi files for glossy magazines and its consistent image quality are also big benefits. The ProImage service processes more than 40,000 images a month for various publishers, saving valuable time and effort.
Highlights include tonal gradation, cast removal, skin tone correction and USM sharpening, as well as other benefits such as very fine detail enhancement and artifact removal.
