Solutions for old newspaper presses and to exploit new mobile publishing opportunities will feature in Agfa Graphics’ IfraExpo presentations.
Making its debut is Arkitex PressRegister, a prepress workflow component designed to improve print quality on older presses which suffer from mechanical mis-registration. Imaging data is automatically corrected to deliver a high-quality print result, while saving time and money.
Agfa is also drawing on its experience in automating print related production workflows with its Eversify product for mobile publishing, as well as other ‘cloud’ based managed services.
Global director of software Andy Grant says the company feels a strong concern among printers and publishers in the newspaper industry about business models for mobile applications: “Building on our pre-media solutions for print, we offer publishers a path to success for the new digital media as well,” he says.
New managed services and dedicated cloud infrastructure enable publishers and printers to streamline their production flows for paper and mobile devices. Grant says Arkitex Cloud offers a complete prepress workflow “in the cloud” to minimise operational costs and IT infrastructure. Eversify automates mobile publishing of contents using software as a service technology.
“Both systems offer the highest degree of business continuity and automation, while optimising operational cost and creating sustainable production environments,” he says.
Agfa Graphics will also present VeriPress for Arkitex – press room proofing in a print production environment – as well as the high-speed Advantage N HS platesetters announced at DRUPA in May.
