KBA has upgraded the technology of its RotaJET inkjet web in advance of trade showings next month.
Ink feed, ink system, screening and drying systems have been improved and new polymer-based inks introduced.
KBA - which says it has buyers for the first two presses - will show the RotaJET 76 on February 1 at a KBA evening at Druckforum in Filderstadt, Germany, and then during Hunkeler Innovationdays in Lucerne, Switzerland from February 11-15. It will be seen producing book sections, newspapers and other full-colour print products.
The press was introduced at DRUPA in Düsseldorf last May following development in cooperation with RR Donnelley and at its own main plant in Würzburg. The improvements follow "intensive talks" with potential new users, the company says.
In Lucerne the RotaJET will be in operation with a newly developed KBA dryer and rewinder, plus for the first time it will be using a new generation of polymer-based inks. Finishing of the printed web will take place on a postpress system from Hunkeler.
At the Druckforum in Filderstadt, KBA's digital printing experts Oliver Baar and Klaus Eppich will present technology, workflows, a range of applications and possible lines of business related to the press. The will also focus on differentiation from offset printing, and how the two can be interfaced. Marketing director Klaus Schmidt will moderate the event.
