Goss has sold a four-tower 6x2 Uniliner press to a publisher in Pittsburgh.

US trade magazine News&Tech has reported that the press – in a new 21,000m2 facility for the Pittsbugh Post-Gazette – will replace elderly letterpress/flexo hybrid equipment.

“It will make us a thousand times more efficient,” operatioins director Lisa Hurm told the magazine.

The triple-wide press will have a 533mm cutoff and 1676mm maximum web width divided into three ribbons leading to a double couple 2:5:5 folder, giving the Pennsylvania daily capacity for up to 48 broadsheet pages of back-to-back colour.

The new print facility at a location yet to be finalised will bring together functions from its three present locations, with Goss – which is the US agent for Ferag – reconfiguring conveyors and relocating Goss Magnapak and NP630 inserting equipment.
